University Interscholastic League (UIL) provides opportunities for students to compete in academic contests at the district level. Club membership is for students in grades 2nd-4th grade. Participation provides them with the opportunity to demonstrate a mastery of specific skills and motivates them to acquire higher levels of knowledge. Campus participants compete in individual events to earn points. Those points are then added up to determine which team has the highest total score. In the elementary school category, ILA@ESE has taken home the first-place trophy for the fifth year in a row. Participating students are chosen by either tryout or by individual faculty selection beginning in Mid-October.
UIL Clubs: Creative Writing (2nd), Storytelling (2nd & 3rd), Chess Puzzles (2nd-4th), Music Memory (2nd-4th), Reading Writing (3rd & 4th), Spelling (3rd & 4th), Oral Reading (4th), Art (4th), Number Sense (4th)
