April is School Library Month. School Library Month is the American Association of School Librarians' celebration of school librarians and their programs.
Every morning, Elizabeth Smith Elementary School students learn facts about their librarian, Ms. Buske-Ferman (affectionately called Ms. B-F), and their school library. ESE Library has almost 8,000 books, resources and audiobooks available for teachers and students to check out. Check out our library page. 1,262 books are currently checked out! Since the beginning of the school year, 14,857 books and resources have been checked in and checked out of the library.
Ms. B-F infuses her theatre background into library lessons and also has transformed the space into a Makerspace for students to create, learn, explore and share. She received almost $20,000 in grants from the Mansfield Education Foundation for a Mobile STEAM Lab that travels all over the district through the librarians.
